BYU GRAPHIC DESIGN BFA SENIOR CAPSTONE 2024


	Our most lasting and deeply meaningful relationships are formed and maintained through the sticky sweet glue of nostalgia. Though universally understood, nostalgia is experienced in vastly different ways.

This analog frame by frame animation is comprised of collected home videos split into over 1000 printed frames.
The abstract expression layered on top is a reflection of the overwhelming and beautiful experience that comes from nostalgic memories.

Memories are layered as we recall them and re-remember them throughout our life. This experience translates to feelings of nostalgia that make us who we are and define how we connect to others. The memories may be hazy and fragmented, or vivid and poignant, but their meaning shapes us over time all the same.&#38;nbsp;

	EXPERIMENTAL
GALLERY DESIGN AND CURATION OF STUDENT WORK FROM EXPERIMENTAL TYPOGRAPHY.


	This exhibit displays the work of students from Winter 2023 Experimental Typography. Students were challenged to design individual letterforms in a collaborative custom typeface as well as their own unique typeface. The work on display illustrates the student projects that pus the boundaries of typography in an experimental and expressive way. The gallery itself was deisgn to be an interactive and experimental environment where visitors could experience the work and understand the design elements within typographic exploration.&#38;nbsp;

Started in 1994 by a group of artists and art collectors including Robert Williams, Fausto Vitello, C.R. Stecyk III, Greg Escalante, and Eric Swenson to both help define and celebrate urban alternative and underground contemporary art.


&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; 
The ideal reader of “Juxtapoz” magazine is someone

who has an interest in art, design and culture, but perhaps has strayed away from this type of literature because they have only been exposed to high brow pulications like “Art Forum” or “Art America.” There is a fine line between being inspired and feeling like an idiot and “Juxtapoz” bridges the gap by showcasing art that both the idiot and the expert alike can enjoy.


“The whole point of what we're still trying to do is to

make sure that all of the art that is happening in the

world is connected, and that you don't necessarily have

to have some sort of separation between high and low

cultures....And we were always told what art is important, and what art you are supposed to go see, but what Robert wanted to do was to create an art magazine,

and an art history, that celebrated the art that we live with.”

	YouSwim is a women’s swimwear company based out of England that has designed a true “one size fits all” swimsuit. The unique material and construction of the suit allows for a flexible fit  across a wide range of body types. Their mission is to be size inclusive and to promote body positivity. Their product challenges the warped social construct of the “ideal beach body.” The models on their website are all different ages, sizes, and ethnicities. The negative experience of purchasing a swimsuit that many women are all too familiar with is eliminated with YouSwim. Their brand celebrates natural changes and imperfections in the human body that occur over time, and encourages women to be comfortable and confident in their skin. &#38;nbsp;
